V12-AM Steel mesh replacement 13mm AR micro glass fibers
Highest Zirconia content worldwide
FIBRATEC V12-AM is the alkali resistant glass fibre with the highest Zirconia content in the world. This fibre is added to concrete to replace the steel mesh placed in the upper third in the construction of concrete slabs.
Our 13mm long strands are made up of 100 filaments of a diameter of 13,5 microns. They have been perfectly calculated to obtain the highest performance with low dosage. Another property that makes them unique is the H950 bonding. Thanks to the H950, our fibre is able to resist its integrity during the mixing process in the truck or batching plant, that normally takes 5 to 10 minutes at high speed of the drum.
It provides speed, simplicity and quality, eliminating all labour and thus avoiding accidents and cuts caused by the handling of the mesh during cutting and placement on site.
Fibratec V12-AM also saves money on transport and storage as it can be transported in the boot of any vehicle in 1kg water-soluble bags or 15kg sacks.
- INCREASES THE FLEXURAL STRENGTH TO FIRST BREAKING BY 5 TO 20% WITH THE ADDITION OF 1 TO 3 KG/M³.
- INCREASES THE DURABILITY OF THE CONCRETE
- IMPROVES THE SURFACE ABRASION RESISTANCE
- DRASTICALLY REDUCES MICRO-CRACKING
The School of Engineering at The University of Birmingham has demonstrated that with the addition of just 2 kg of Fibratec V12-AM it is able to achieve the following improvements in a C25 concrete. (C25: 25 MPa compression strength):
- CARBONATION: -47%.
- AIR PENETRATION: -87
- WATER PENETRATION: -58%
- CAPILLARY ABSORPTION CAPACITY: -38%
The V12-AM microfibers form a three-dimensional lattice of hundreds of millions of fibres whose tensile strength is greater than that of steel (1620 N/mm2 vs 1200 N/mm2), with a totally homogeneous distribution (specific weight of the fibre similar to that of concrete) and with a spectacular bonding to the concrete matrix carried out by the calcium hydroxide crystals that are produced during the chemical process of setting and curing of the concrete. Its strength will improve with each passing year. (The concrete curing process takes several years. Unlike steel fibres which lose reinforcement over time due to oxidation).
All these factors mentioned so far result in a much less porous, more intense concrete, a concrete brought to perfection because the fibres have greatly hindered the loss of water in the mass, favouring the activation of all the cement flecks inside it and sewing up the micro cracks inherent to the stresses produced inside the concrete at the very moment of their appearance.
A steel mesh placed in the upper third of a concrete slab is not capable of providing any of the above-mentioned benefits and for this reason it can be perfectly replaced by FIBRATEC V12-AM.
YOU CAN CALCULATE THE LOADS THE CONCRETE SLAB CAN RESIST WITH DIFFERENT FIBRE DOSAGES IN OUR “DOSAGE CALCULATION” MENU.
Mix fibres in the concrete batching plant or truck mixer at maximum speed 15 r.p.m. ALWAYS AS THE LAST COMPONENT.
Add at a rate of 3 kg per minute. After all the fibre has been added, allow an additional minute of mixing.
Product available in 1kg water soluble paper bags supplied in 10 count cartons or 15kg heavy duty plastic sacks.
TOTAL PALLETISED:
In individual 1kg bags, full pallet weight is 390kg and pallet dimensions are 110x110x145cm.
In 15kg bags, full pallet weight is 420kg and pallet dimensions are 110x110x110cm.
We can deliver technical reports justifying the possibility of steel mesh replacement in a concrete slab upon request.

We should NEVER try to replace steel reinforcements with fibres of any kind in elements with structural requirements (load-bearing walls, pillars, beams, meshes that form part of the structural calculation of compression layers…).
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Use preferably a C25 or C30 mix to build concrete slabs. All good concrete practices must be strictly applied.
All the dosage data are based on bending tests performed with concrete where 1 to 3 kg/m3 of V12-AM fibre was added in the Arco Tecnos laboratories in collaboration with the Engineering School of “La Almunia de Doña Godina”. (Polytechnic University of Zaragoza).
All applications in past experiences in which the products have been applied and handled correctly, the results have been 100% satisfactory. We have replaced steel mesh in over 4.5 million square meters of concrete slabs until year 2020.
Actual application conditions may differ from laboratory conditions due to the circumstances in each site. A concrete slab is the result of many components, circumstances and the know-how of the professional and therefore the advice given does not give rise to any guarantee or legal obligation as to its final effectiveness.
FIBRATEC CAN ONLY GUARANTEE THE QUALITY OF THE FIBRE AND ITS FEATURES.
A steel mesh cannot improve surface abrasion strength. V12-AM does.

DO NOT CONFUSE TRADITIONAL POLYPROPYLENE FIBERS WITH FIBRATEC V12-AM
MULTIFILAMENT POLYPROPYLENE FIBER
Polypropylene Fiber:
It helps to avoid micro-cracking caused by the sudden drying of the concrete, retaining the water in the mix and acting like a sponge.
Unfortunately, it does not guarantee an effective work because it is not distributed evenly in the concrete mass due to its specific weight very different from that of concrete. (0.9 gr / cm³ versus 2.4gr / cm³). As a result, we can observe many places without any fiber and others with excess fiber and floating on the surface forming nasty balls and lumps. bags
V12-AM AR MICRO GLASS FIBERS
Fibratec:
It sews the hundreds of millions of micro cracks produced by the entire mass of the concrete at the very moment of its appearance thanks to its homogeneous distribution and its high tensile strength. (Specific weight similar to that of concrete, 2.68 gr / cm³ vs. 2.45gr / cm³).
This immense network of fibers in all the heights of the thickness of the slab hinders the loss of water by all the layers of the slab equally, favoring the hydration of the cement.
IT EXTENDS THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE CONCRETE IN ADDITION TO GETTING AS AN ADDITIONAL BENEFIT RAISING THE FIRST-BREAKING STRENGTH OF THE CONCRETE TO BENDING.
Polypropylene Fiber:
The polypropylene microfiber cannot replace a mesh in a floor and its use is recommended together with a shoe mesh to complement it.
Fibratec:
It replaces a steel mesh placed in the upper third of a concrete slab.
Polypropylene Fiber:
Dries the concrete causing the addition of water and consequent weakening of its final strength and favoring micro-cracking.
Fibratec:
It does NOT require adding water to the concrete because it does not absorb water.
Polypropylene Fiber:
Melting temperature: 173ºC
Fibratec:
Melting temperature:> 1500 ° C. Suitable for high temperature applications.
Polypropylene Fiber:
Shows up on the surface, causes the formation of balls and lumps, making it difficult to polish, print or apply other additives.
Fibratec:
The surface is excellent without a trace of fibers and ready to polish, print and add any additive. It disperses with total homogeneity throughout the concrete mass in minutes.
Polypropylene Fiber:
Usually sold in 600 or 900 g water soluble paper bags.
Fibratec:
It is sold in 1 kg water-soluble paper bags or 15 kg plastic sacs.
